Why isn't 3Dconnexion supported?

I’m a new subscriber to UE4 editor and surprised to find out there is no support for my 3D space mouse. So I’m forced to use key’s in combination with the mouse to navigate, just soooow ridicules.

The thing is, people hoe don’t have a space mouse do not realize how ridicules this is.
There are still plenty of people out there hoe just keep on working heavily handicapped (they just don’t know how handicapped they are).
For me a space mouse is like receiving legs to walk after years of navigating in a wheelchair.
Now I need to go back in a wheelchair in order to navigate this place. (so frustrating)
I will gladly pay 50 dollars or more (if necessary), for a plug-in that ads support.

I second that. I also gladly pay somebody some money to create a driver.

Is it also in the cards to give players the ability to input using a 3dConnexion device? In other words, if making a flight sim, UE4 gives the player the ability to navigate using a 3dConnexion device. This is a real make/break decision for my choice of engine.

That would be sweet, but I’d be happy to just be able to build my levels using it in the editor soon!

We are waiting too - support 3dConnection device will help a lot during development

Its good to hear Epic’s on it while its a shame 3Dconnecton don’t care about their customers. Those devices are far from being cheap, you’d think they would put one guy for a week or two on this but no… Thanks Epic for taking over the flame, I’m sure a couple of thousand people will celebrate when we can finally build our levels with this awesome tool.

I really hope this gets added soon!!! . At this point I might as well break out GlovePIE / FreePIE and try to jam a square block into a round hole. Or in this case, a round knob into a square window

I also pledge to help fund this development. If I can use my SpaceNavigator with UE4 on a Mac, I will gladly contribute.

Let’s get this working!

Max gave an update on the forums recently:

“Work on this currently on hold, because of GDC, and we’re also trying to figure out some technical/licensing issues with the 3Dconnexion folks. We’ll keep you posted!”

@igzer @bn86 5+ from us  (our team is larger than that but the rest don’t really use UE4 much in their workflows)

Would love if this could also be utilized in blueprints. I suffer from RSI and this would help greatly with all the right-click mouse dragging and scrolling.

Any news on this topic?

Hi, I have some experience in Unity and I intend to initiate me into UDK4 with great enthusiasm, as I see it as a rather more adult and more attractive engine for 3d architectural visualization designer, like me. In my workflow every day I use my space pilot of 3dconnexion almost everything. Without the work is not the same.

Like other users, I hope that gets fixed soon.

Thank´s

I just brought one of these. It is a great to use in Maya. I just assumed it would work in Unreal. I hope support gets added soon!

I’m about to buy one space pilot pro. Looks like it’s compatible wit 3d-Coat and Blender. But I can see on this post it’s not yet useful for Unreal Engine4… that’s too bad, it’s not recommended that we try an implementation using the SDK because the views input code is hardcoded for mouse input.

Do you have an estimated time for this integration? Any beta at least?

I guess removing the hardcode and let the community implement the plug-in would be a faster way to go. This request is not even on the roadmap!

One more squeaky wheel here. Just dug out my previously unused SpaceNavigator to use with Blender and would love to see it supported in UE4.

Same here - we could definitely benefit from having our 3D tools supported in UE4

Any developments on this?
We want to add support for using a 3DConnexion in our project. At this point we’re trying to decide whether to just go ahead and implement it ourselves.
