UE5 runs very slow on my computer and crashes every time I use it. I checks the minimum requirements and I have all of them. I am unsure on how to fix this problem.
Hi ShadowThunder,
You should edit your post to include your PC specs!
Have you tried changing the engine scalability settings?
Settings (Upper right of screen in UE5) → Engine Scalability Settings
Hope that helps!
I’ll try it
Thank you very much. It worked like a charm.
it isn’t your specs, I know my PC should be able to handle the Engine easily, but if you open something like City Sample and change the Engine Scalability Settings to Low it still stinks. The Engine is just flat nearly impossible to run now. I’ll go spend another 6k upgrading my rig again, but I doubt using a 4090 ti will help much after a month of Windows updates. I love Epic Games, but the Engine is nearing useless to try and work with. Every simple task takes forever to do now, even starting the game inside the Editor. And I’m using a 3070, with 32 gigs of Ram, so I have 12 gigs of GPU RAM, on top of 32 gigs on the PC, and am using a 1 T SSD. With a 1Gig Internet Connection.
Here it is Oct. 31 2024 and the engine has gotten tons of updates and upgrades and still runs SLOW. The issue is that it runs Shader Compiler like 12 times at the same time every time you open a map. Why make all those processes run at once instead of a few at a time, using up every core on our machines at once? They built it to do this, it is so laggy it is useless and unresponsive a lot of the time. Upgrade your machine and it won’t matter in a month or two the Engine is the problem.
