Why is static mesh being saved rotated?

I have a model made with cubegrid. Made to be the inside of a cabinet. it has no applied rotation to it. but when i convert it into a static mesh it seems to be rotated on the Z axis by 180. This also applies to when placing it in the world.
why is that?
how can i fix it?

You can adjust the pivot of a static mesh using the Pivot Tool in Modeling Mode under the Transform Tab. Place the asset in the scene and modify its rotation by 180 degrees on the Z-axis.
