I need a blueprint to react to physics, so falling and having forces applied to it. I have a static mesh as root of my blueprint, but in physics panel simulate physics toggle is grayed out and i cannot edit it. How do I fix this problem?

root of a Blueprint has some limitations on what you can modify. You can create a Scene Component in your Blueprint, and make that root. Then you’ll be able to modify settings of it’s children.
