Im having the same problem! I just installed the Engine and my PC is probably under the minimum specs to really run this thing, but I want to try it out anyway (I was a big part of the UnrealED community back in 99-2000) and Im trying to load a new project. It doesn’t matter what kind of project I load, it crashes at around 95% with the following error, but before I spam your screen with it, I have provided my DXDiag file here → dxdiag - Pastebin.com
Here’s what the editor spits out. There is alot more but Im limited by space constraints, I figure you can get the jist of it though. Please help!
You are a little low on RAM but the main reason that you aren’t able to load the editor is because your integrated graphics card only support DirectX 10. DirectX 11 is required to run the editor properly.
Here is what we recommend:
Desktop PC with Windows 7 64-bit or a Mac with Mac OS X 10.9.2 or later
8 GB RAM
Quad-core Intel or AMD processor
DX11 compatible video card
Also, this is a great place to see what others are using to run the editor and discuss specs.
My videocard supports DX11. I use DX11 mode in games that support it just fine, as well. I realize I’m very under spec, but that I disagree that thats the reason the editor is crashing since it appears Im not the only person having this crash.
In your dxdiag it lists your Graphics Card as an “Intel(R) HD Graphics” which is a DirectX 10 compatible integrated card. Do you have another card on-board that is not listed?
It shows that you have DirectX 11 installed but if your card doesn’t support it then it will not work correctly with the Launcher/editor.
We haven’t heard back from you in a few days, so we are marking this post as resolved for tracking purposes. If you’re still experiencing this issue, please respond to my last comment above.
I’m having this issue as well, despite that my computer should be strong enough to run UE4 Editor.
It runs the main game fine.
I attached my dxdiag file here. It crashes at 95% just like IndyGamerJones’ UE4 Editor…
[edit]: I have DirectX 11.0 installed, too.
Thanks for the response!
I’ll try to find a computer with a compatible video card.
One thing I find strange, though, is that I can run the base game perfectly fine.
Why wouldn’t the base game use DirectX 11 if the editor does…?
Quite a mystery.
Anyway, I appreciate the quick response!
Hmm, I’m not seeing anything there. Thanks for sending that though.
Next maybe try Verifying the engine. You can click the yellow arrow on the Launcher version to do that.
If that doesn’t work, try navigating to the UE4Editor.exe directly and see if it will open that way. This will help us determine if the Launcher is blocking it from opening. Your file path should be similar to this:
