I’m brand new to UE (and game engines in general) and have been watching Youtube videos for metahumans.
There are dozens if not hundreds of videos displaying the simple process of adding a metahuman. All of them have the metahuman properly scaled. However for me, following the incredibly simple process, always gives the same result - a metahuman so small it can hardly be seen. Each time I need to manually scale it back. Why? I’m a very frustrated noob.
Hey there @AWindsor99! Welcome to the community! It’s actually quite hard to tell scale in the open world map, as it’s much bigger than you’d expect. Your Metahuman should be roughly around the size of the base mannequin at default import sizes. If possible, drop your player or a mannequin next to it and you can probably get a better sense of exactly how large it is in comparison. However if it is coming in at odd scales when imported that could be an issue.
Hello and Thank You for the reply.
I’m new to game engines, just not UE5.5, and to be perfectly honest the only reason I’m experimenting with UE5.5 is for its ability to animate with excellent lip synch. AI might be able to do this for open source (decently) within a few years and online services are ridiculously expensive, limiting you to low resolution and very short videos.
But to the point, the issue for me is that, without exaggeration, I’ve seen dozens of videos on metahumans in general and not once have I see a metahuman added to a project that was the size of a small dot.
As a noob, all my UE5.5 settings are still at their default values, so I definitely did not meddle with any settings.
In passing, this issue seems limited to the plain project template. The metahuman does size properly relative to its environment with the 3rd person template
