Good morning, good afternoon, or good evening. I am relatively new to studying UE5; I have only one year of study and of improving my concepts. While browsing FAB, I noticed that there are very few monster-training and monster-battle games (like Pokémon or similar). I don’t know if this is a difficult type of game to make or something like that, or if people are afraid to develop and publish this kind of content because of the large company that might want to cause trouble.
Anyway, I am very interested in this type of game, but I can’t find it anywhere. I would like to know if there is any place where I can see examples or what I can study to get closer to this style of game.
I think the lack of information is because it isn’t a hard game to make, those games are a front end, spreadsheet that are tied to “visual outcome” state machine which can be 2D or 3D or just text. You could create two sphere’s that “grow” when “fed” and have them battle each other by removing a “health” system based on an “attack” system in a day or a few hours if you know what you are doing.
Getting a basic prototype up and running should be fast, getting all the content created and a system to purchase it, and balance it is very time consuming.
You can get enough free content from FAB to make this look pretty cool pretty fast, but using that content will only work to the point that you can use it for what ever system you design. If you create an upgrade system maybe just changing the colors will work, but if you start wanting more then you will have to add models, code for managing that upgrade system, and hooking it to a back-end. If you are looking for a template that contains a basic framework I would look for programmers - write up a design document of what you want the system to do, and start looking to hire people to create it for you.
