Why I lost my Direct Link function with Archicad24 and Twinmotion 2022.2.3?

I have been using the 2022.2.3 for awhile and was working fine. Now when I try to model my Archicad project I cannot import to Direct Link. How do I get this function back. The only way I can work with Twinmotion is to use udatasmith and as you know when you make a change to your model and import, you loose all your modeling objects you created and must start over.

Could you confirm you are using the Datasmith Exporter plugin 5.0.3v2 found here:

You can check the Datasmith version by referencing this article:

When using the Direct Link process it stores the files in a cache folder specified in the manage connections settings from the Datasmith Palette. Changing the path could potentially help and making sure the permissions to that folder are correct.

Also make sure there are no blocked ports or your firewall is not blocking the applications.

Are you on a wifi or wired network and does it make a difference, is one a public or private network?

When trying to use the Direct Link do you get any errors, what does the message log say?

Common Workaround: Closing and Re-opening Twinmotion or Archicad usually re-establishes the source connection. Restarting the machine can also work depending on what was blocking the communication.

Still unable to import my 3D view

Since we are unable to find a solution to my direct link problem, would in be better to delete the program and re-install? The only problem would be problems with my license. How would I make sure that is not compromised?

Thank you Vincent for the follow up. I did write back to inform you that I found the problem. I had installed a .vpn recently and when I removed it from my computer my direct link worked again. You can close this case.

Thank you for the follow-up message. In order to uninstall and reinstall Twinmotion you can do it from the Epic Games launcher > Twinmotion tab > Gear icon then select uninstall. This won't affect your license in anyway, even if you decide to also uninstall Epic Games launcher and reinstall it.

I don't think the issue is related to Twinmotion but something else and hope you contacted us directly so we could further help with your issue.

Hello Vincent, I had exactly the same issue just now, again but this time it was because of the Wifi connection

I am using a public Wifi in a coffeeshop and today the direct link was not working anymore. The moment I switched to my mobile phone Hotspot, the direct link is back.

Why is that happening? How can the Wifi affect the direct link?
