Sorry to post this in bug reports but I didn’t see any type of meta forum for… err, forum… stuff.
I was really disappointed that I couldn’t edit my avatar or anything in my profile for that matter. Just mainly curious why that is.

forum profile is linked to the account created on our webpage. You can change the nickname that will be shown on the forum in your account details (https://www.capturingreality.com/my.account).
Regarding changing the avatar, unfortunately, it is not possible to change it here but you can find the tip here:

Oh cool, I’m familiar with gravatar but it never said anything about it. Maybe a tip in the profile would be nice.
Perhaps replace that text with something like “Your name and information can be changed on our main site, here. For avatars, we use the gravatar system. You can get more info on that here”.
