I imported a landscape from Gaea into UE5 with all correct settings, watched on it, and should all be fine. But it doesn’t show with the base texture, just nothing but the orange outline when you select something, as I had to select it to know that I imported it in my case. I tried adding materials to it in, still doesn’t work.
I really hope its someone can help, or that its an easy fix, its just, as its quite annoying.
Hey there @BlueFish1331! Welcome to the community! Could your editor be hiding the landscape? Try hitting Alt+L to see if it returns. If not, it could be a material issue. When you run the game, does the landscape then show up? Are there any errors in your console when you load the map?
you need a layer info for each landscape material and you have to fill the whole landscape with at least one mat layer with lyr info in lscape editor
material won’y attach to the landscape unless they have a layer info for the landscape material
@SupportiveEntity Yeah, thankyou for suggestions, but the landscape isn’t hidden. Alt + L didn’t do anything. And when I run the game, all materials are gone, including for my character, so it’s definitely a material issue that’s effecting everything within the level. So I am still very confused
@christuusgnosis I have tried adding Landscape materials, but doesn’t show up, which is what really got me confused. Also, since I need a specific layer for the landscape material, I have only imported the Erosion height Map to the landscape editor from all the maps that were creating from the landscape generator if thats part of the problem. Otherwise, I dont know how to add a landscape material?
honestly
the best way is to add an asset pack from epic that has a landscape
then
drop the master landscape material
which looks black
on the landscape
you won’t see anything
then
go to landscape
paint
there should be 3-6 ground material layers like rock dirt etc
on each layer
click the add layer info
you might find one pop up
otherwise create on
you need a layer info file for each ground material layer in the ground master material.
then you need to paint the entire landscape with any one of the materials to see it and begin.
So… just in case this is still an issue for someone. I’ve been going through the red tape and endless Youtube searches. If you are told to use the .png try exporting to a .raw file. In UE5, you will be able to see your terrain and adjust gaea or unreal import settings accordingly afterwards. Hope this helps!
