Why does Twinmotion delete my painted vegetation every time I sync my project in ArchiCAD?

As the title says, any time I update my model in ArchiCAD and then sync it with Twinmotion, all of my painted vegetation gets deleted regardless of where the change occurs.

I can understand if I was modifying the mesh that it was painted on to, but why on earth does it delete it if I am modifying something completely unrelated?

Essentially I can't paint any grass on the model until it is 100% complete otherwise I am wasting my time.

Bonjour.

Cordialement.

Hello.

I don't use Archicad or Datasmith but generally speaking, all software works pretty much the same way.

Grass painting is a rather special tool on TM but also on other software such as C4d or 3dSmax.

In general this tool is subordinate to a surface and there is a kind of specific link between them.

My advice :

-Always do the grass last (once your project is finished) you will save time (^_^).

-To avoid "loss" problems (quite frequent Beug) you can duplicate your project file and make a "grass" file with it (You just keep the polygons and the paint "instances" on it.).

-If your grass disappears (after your update), you can then, by merging this "grass" file with the project file, have new grass.

It's not America as a solution but it takes less time than re-stuffing the surface paint (^_^).

Cordially.

Hello ,

Thank you for posting in the community and sorry to hear about the troubles. Are using Twinmotion 2022.2 and the Datasmith Exporter 5.0.3?

If the mesh is not modified in Archicad and the applied grass disappears after the update/sync there seems to be a bug and would need to investigate it. Could you please report a bug and provide as much information and steps as possible so we can reproduce the issue correctly. Here is the contact us link: https://twinmotionhelp.epicgames.com/s/case-community-page

Kind regards,

Hi Vincent,

Thanks for your reply. I am currently on the latest version of Twinmotion (2022.2), however this has occurred in previous versions as well, albeit intermittently back then. How do I check the current Datasmith Exporter version?
