Why does 4.17 destroy FBX's?

When I import an FBX I’ve made in Blender into 4.17 Unreal splits the mesh into many meshes giving each material it’s own mesh. I’ve tried importing under root and parent and all assets and it does that with all of them. At the moment I import FBX’s to 4.14 and migrate then to 4.17. I would really like to import straight into the project again. Is there something I’m doing wrong in Unreal or Blender?

There is a check box to combine meshes when importing into unreal along with import textures and materials. I normally have combine meshes checked and textures and materials unchecked and import textures manually.
