Why do shadows / ao disappear when hitting play or rendering sequence?

I have quite the confusing issue. I have a skeletal mesh car that has animation on it. Inside the editor when I’m previewing it looks really nice: It looks the same in default and cinematic camera modes.

Then when I hit simulate / play, or when I try to render it out using the sequencer, all the nice shadows and ambient occlusion goes away.


I have cast shadow enabled for the asset. I’m not sure why this is happening.

Lighting does need to be rebuilt, but I’ve tried doing preview builds and it didn’t seem to work.
