Why do my Megascans look terrible?

My megascans look terrible and I don’t know why.

Did you take a texture baked for a particular model and try to apply it to a plane?

Yes, I think I did. It was working perfectly before, and then UE5 crashed and it looks like this.

A texture baked for a specific model will only look good on that particular model. Does the 3d model included with that megascans asset look good with that material applied?

Yes, it does, but the plane looked good with it before.

You could open up the textures and see there’s areas without detail. For a plane, the image is just going to be projected as is onto it. For a more complex model, there’s going to be a UV map that projects different parts of that image to different parts of that model. The soft blurry bits are areas between UV islands not meant to be detailed and will look bad on any model it wasn’t designed for.
