Why did Unreal 4.1 create a 7GB Backup?

After updating UE4 today it said it found locally edited files that it put into a Backup folder in the UE4 directory under the Launcher section. The Backup is 7GB! So now the Unreal directory is 28.2GB!!! Do I need to keep this? Can I delete it? Is this going to happen every time UE4 updates? Because if it does then I’m going to run out of HDD space really soon.

Its not backup, Every minor number updates are installed speretly, same was with UDK, it does that so you can compire between verion and safely upgrade your project. If you dont want to keep in launcher select old verion by clicking verssion number and click uninstall

Despite having removed the old version in the launcher, I have two separate backup folders in C:\Program Files\Unreal Engine\Launcher\Backup

Is it safe to delete these?

Well that dwpends if you want backup ; p

I removed C:\Program Files\Unreal Engine\Launcher\Backup\ and everything appears to have continued to work fine.
