Why did my screen turn blue with a white circle? (and all assets unviewable)

I pressed the F key and my screen turned blue with a white circle. All assets became unviewable. They are still present on the right hand side Outliner. This is in 5.5.3, now updated to 5.5.4. In the older 5.3.2, everything still works just fine. My screen capture is set to the F9 key, I see “F” attributed to no other shortcut in Preferences. Any help on how I can regain normal view of my scene would really be appreciated!

Additionally, I can zoom in and out a little bit, but it inevitably snaps back to this screen.

The F key allows you to focus certain objects, zooming out/in so that they are in view. It uses the current selection as what it assumes you’re trying to view. To fix this, try place a cube in your level and selecting from the outliner and pressing the F key again to focus back on the cube.

What might have happened is that pressed F while clicking on the skysphere.

I have multiple objects in this scene. I have tried selecting them individually in the Outliner and pressing the F key. Nothing happens.
Another thing that malfunctioned is that all my different scenes vanished. UE 5.5.4 autoloads this one scene/world with the blue background and white sphere. If I load UE 5.3.2, I can see the various scenes as options to choose for loading, but it will refuse to load them stating “made in another version” of Unreal. UE 5.5.4 does not do that. I am going to try reinstalling.

I think this is what happened to you: you’ve selected the Sky Sphere mesh or any other large mesh and pressed F, which makes the viewport zoom out to fit the whole sky mesh. This is what the white circle is.

Try just picking any of the assets that you work on right now in the Outliner and pressing F again (like the “Floor” mesh)

I completely uninstalled UE 5.5.4, rebooted, and reinstalled.
The scene came up as before, no choice as to which scene to load, unlike 5.3.2, this scene with the blue screen and white sphere. But after reinstall it did let me select an asset and focus on it with the F key. Unfortunately, half the assets are missing or corrupted. At least this is a start. Also I can open another scene other than the one that loads by default, but the choice of scenes is still missing, just from 5.5.4. I suppose the big question now is how to keep this from happening a second time?
