Why can't I install Unreal Engine 5.0.1?

Hi - I use Twinmotion 2022.1.2 with ArchiCAD 25. I’m trying to download and use the materials pack. It says I don’t have the engine installed - all good, but it won’t let me install it. I just get a greyed out button in the Epic Games Launcher. Even the dropdown option is disabled, it does nothing.

How do I install the engine?

Make sure you have enough hard drive space, and make sure a version engine is not running, that button should change as soon as you shut it down. Even though you should be able to have 4.27 running and install 5. Double check to make sure everything is shut down in the task manager, swarm, everything.

I know the launcher is a bit broken at the moment they removed the ability to delete projects for instance in this latest update. This could be another error.

Yes, things are odd. I had exited the launcher and started doing something else, then suddenly I get the pop up message “Do you want Epic Games Launcher to make changes to your device” etc.
And it installed! Weird.

Hello,

It happened to me, but I got stuck, because Unreal didn’t install or uninstall properly at some point.

You need to be sure you deleted the unreal folder :
C:\Program Files\Epic Games\UE_5.0

You have to uninstall epic games launcher and reintall it (same with redownloading your games that are linked in the epic launcher) and it works.

Also make sure you don’t have an extra instance of EPIC Games running in your background, I tried uninstalling because it wouldn’t work, then realized that eventhough I had already closed the program, there was still an activity running in the background. So once I killed it and opend it back up, things started working.
