I’ve been playing with the destructible meshes for a while, and noticed that after breaking off a couple chunks, the remaining unbroken part of the mesh will not collide with the player, nor gunshots from the shooter_game weapon.
The chunks that are broken off still react to the player moving around, and collide with bullets, but act strangely, as if parented to each other.
Have you tried turning Simulate Physics to On in the Details panel of the Destructible Mesh? This should allow you to keep shooting the unbroken pieces until they fall over.
This works, but not when there are chunks marked as support in the fracture editor. It looks like any time the support chunks take damage (even if marked as unfracturable or undamagable) the unbroken pieces stop working.
As a bit of clarification: What I’m trying to do is have the mesh break apart entirely, but not all at once. The player should be able to break apart the mesh whenever they want, but until they do, the unbroken chunks should stay in place.
Ive had a look through all of this myself at one point, apparently the destruction system currently available is not working as intended, i even tried using physx, and either way it either didn’t break at all or everything exploded as soon as one segment was hit, feel free to search around some more but as far as i know its completely messed up.
The issue with the Support Chunks has been tested in our latest internal build and it is still present. I have made the developers aware and they will be looking into the issue.
