Why are ShooterGame and StrategyGame not working with Preview Build anymore?

Greetings everyone. I recently downloaded preview build and everything works fine with it. The problem is that Shooter Game and Strategy Game don’t work with it anymore, and I get those messages:

With this build, only Strategy Game can generate visual Studio Projects and when i try to compile it, I only get the new UE4Editor-StrategyrGameLoadingScreen.dll but fails to create UE4Editor-StrategyGame.dll which is needed to make the exmaple run with the preview build (Visual Studio gets errors when compiling and stiops midway).

Hello DarkInfiktrator,

Apologies for the delay. I have a few questions.

  • Is this issue occurring with the editor downloaded from the Launcher, or have you compiled the engine source code from Github?
  • What is your currently Unreal Engine version? 4.0.?
  • When you are compiling the projects, are you choosing ‘Development Editor, Win64’?

EDIT: Ignore the first two questions, I realized this is for the 4.1.0 Preview Build on GitHub.

Thanks for the information.

Hello ,

I am actually having the same issue as DarkInfiktrator. Both StrategyGame as well as ShooterGame, do not seem to work with 4.1.0, and shows the following.

3992-screenshot+2014-04-13+21.39.51.png

I associated the .uproject files with my 4.1.0 build and generated Visual Studio files for StrategyGame (ShooterGame would only generate after deleting line 36 to 48 in ShooterGameEditor.Target.cs).

Compiling works fine for UE4Editor-Shooter(Strategy)GameLoadingScreen.dll, but not for UE4Editor-Shooter(Strategy)Game.dll, and instead exits with an error.

Error 1 error MSB3073: The command “…\Build\BatchFiles\Build.bat can’ remember exactly” exited with code -1. C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft.Cpp\v4.0\V120\Microsoft.MakeFile.Targets 38

As to your above questions, everything works great with the editor downloaded from the Launcher, as well as the compiled version from Github (both 4.0.1 and 4.0.2).

The error only occurs with 4.1.0 from Github, and yes I am choosing Development Editor and Win64.

Cheers

Thank you Kraken for the information. Can you check the solution in this post (https://answers.unrealengine.com/questions/18770/shootergame-strategygame-wont-open-in-an-editor-bu.html) to see if that helps to resolve the issue?

Thanks

Hello ,

First, let me thank you for your reply in this matter, it is much appreciated.

Second, unfortunately the above linked solution did not work. It only compiled the UE4Editor-StrategyGameLoadingScreen.dll, and gave the same error trying to compile the UE4Editor-StrategyGame.dll.

However, it is not really a big deal for me, as I mainly use 4.0.2 anyways, but it might be worth it for QA to look into.

Again, thank you so much for your support. You guys are truly epic!

I am having the same errors as mentionned before and I am using the preview build 4.1 and I am using ‘Development Editor, Win64’ and the provided solution does not work for this preview build, only works for 4.0.1 and 4.0.2. I hope you give us the solution soon. Thanks.

Edit: Also like I said in the first post, only StrategyGame can generate visual studio projects using the 4.1 preview build. The ShooterGame can not even generate Visual Studio Project (gets error in cmd commands).

Only 4.0.1 and 4.0.2 can genrate projetcs for it but they dont help.

Here are the errors I get with StrategyGame (ShooterGame can not even be generated in Visual Studios), Sorry my system is in french.

Hey DarkInfiktrator,

Are you still having issues with recompiling in the full 4.1 release?
