I started using unreal engine 5 but i noticed that lacks of many templates that were on UE4 just like sidescroller, 2d platformer and so on.
Why have been removed? I used that usefull templates a lot both for start quickly a new game or simply to make tests and prototipes.
Please add that templates just like in UE4!
I expected to have more templates with the new engine version or at least the same not less!
Hey there @aether_vortex! Welcome back to the community! Sorry about that! Each of the project templates tend to be geared towards their version or derivations of it. 4.0 kept most of the same throughout it’s life cycle, but 5 was a massive jump in how the engine operates as well as many of the original assets were changed out. There is no official announcements if the team will be updating the ones that were left out of the initial release.
However, you should be able to port up the previous projects. It may take a bit of cleaning up though! Here’s a migration guide!
Yes i also thought about migrating projects but i really hope Epic will reintroduce the templates. I ask if they know that the community appreciated them!

We definitely hear you on that and I’ve taken a note of it. If I find some time, I might make it a fun side project to unofficially update the older templates and pop it up on the marketplace for people to just download while waiting on official means. Maybe even upgrade them a bit but keep the spirit. I’ve technically already made a local multiplayer side scroller template recently.
