I’m genuinely curious, and I’m sure there are others with a similar question.
Who would I need if I was to remake a old Video Game, like say for a selection of examples
Unreal
Unreal Tournament ‘99
Quake 4.
Star Trek: The Next Generation: Klingon Honour Guard.
Burnout 3: Takedown
I’m genuinely curious as to who I would need to remake old games, all the way from remaking the core of the game, to redesigning models, audio, gameplay, etc, etc.
WHO would you need or what would you need? Either way, can think of 3 things maybe:
A good legal representative if you want to do anything more than just make fan games.
Your former self from 2020 & 2017 appearing out of a time machine, to grill you about what you’ve accomplished in the meantime, or in the past 6 or 7 years or so???
Seriously, just make a start at something. Its a long time to not have a few advanced games by now (or 10-20 smaller games). So just get started with something. The first games on your list even offer source. So you can mod them however you want.
^This^… A good place to start is just try and build a level in whatever game / genre you want. As you don’t need to know anything except the basics to begin, like how to drag assets into a level (or customize existing maps as Epic give away free assets).
Basically unless you have a budget to spend, there’s no point expecting the other roles above to come to you (that doesn’t cut it anymore). People want to see what you’ve done already before signing onto a project (even if its a fan based fun thing).
