I’d take Fallout 4 before some watered down JRPG any day.

No need, just say what you think instead.
I know we’re not allowed to dislike these kind of titles. Just like saying a bad word about Star Wars will start a lynch mob. But the thread asked so I answered. I won’t pretend to like a series just because it’s the norm. I enjoyed the early titles on PS1, but I think it has lost it’s appeal with the years, there are more Final Fantasy games than even the fans can keep track of so I think watered down is a fair way of describing it, coming from someone that doesn’t like it anymore. But to each their own!

Aside from the mobile games, I can keep track of all the FF games even if I haven’t played one since FFXII.
Honestly, Square took a major downhill turn back when it merged with Enix. I’m sure it helped the company financially, but creatively it hurt them in many departments. Besides Kingdom Hearts they struggled to put out a particularly great product. Things have been changing recently though. Bravely Default was an amazing return to form and one of the best games in recent years. The Episode Duscae demo was wonderful. Square publicly apologized for their trying to reinvent the RPG wheel and is looking to try and go back to older systems rather than force their systems to compete with the Skyrims of the world. And it is because of this that I’m actually hopeful that FF7 Remake will turn out good.
Besides, while modding can be good it has a long way to go to save a boring game. Bioware is the only Western company who has ever put out an RPG that I like. I always lamented how open world games eschewed a strong story for just letting you do whatever you want and that is not a core engagement which hooks me though I’m perfectly aware it does for so many other people.
So here here I say for a return to good old story driven JRPGs!
I’ll take both please, I prefer fallout over FF - but the whole rose tinted specs thing has me interested in FF7 remake.

Legend of Dragoon & Chrono Cross were both criminally underrated. People can shoot me all they want, but I still think CC was better than CT. Of course, I’m already a pariah for considering FFVIII superior to FFVII.
I’m wondering if Square intends to use the same active battle system or whether they’ll try and mess with combat to make it more modern. I wouldn’t mind Shiva being brought up to the level of FFXV’s Ramuh summon.

I can’t believe there is actually someone else who prefers Chrono Cross to Chrono Trigger! I mean, don’t get me wrong, CT was and still is one of the best games ever created, but CC is that much better! (we’ve had this argument at the office numerous times)
I always preferred Chrono Cross over Chrono Trigger. really Chrono Cross has a flawless 10/10 on Gamespot. Back when these websites actually were honest and not paid. Not the **** you see with IGN every year, rating the same call of duty 10/10 when its the exact same game.
swear on the bible that nobody paid them money to rate COD.
My favorite part of Chrono Cross was the wrecked Highways in the Dead Sea
Dream of the Shore near another world by Yasunori Mitsuda the world map OST for Chrono Cross is my all time favorite sound track in video games, that and the save theme in Resident Evil 4
This woman Seda Baykara did an amazing violin cover of it.

I always say one day I would replay Chrono Cross. But never got around to doing it, one thing its graphics were really a work of art, it never ages.
I remember going to the world map and not being able to leave because this music was so good. Aah those were the good old days, now games are not made with passion like this anymore. Now its all about the money.
