I sent in a request on 21 Nov 2014 and have yet to receive a reply on the status of my application. May I know if anyone here has also waited for over a month and received no reply?
I would like to send them an email inquiring about what is taking them so long, but I doubt it would be in good taste considering that I already did so a month ago. Still, I think they should give us a more concrete ETA or, failing that, at least show us their internal queue system so we can estimate how long it will take before our application is attended to(or if they are taking too long to verify, we could badger the registrars office at our school to expedite the process).
I apologize if I sounded a bit hostile here, but being unable to use UE4 at home (my school already has it installed on their computers, but it takes around an hour to travel to my school) is hindering my productivity, and I can’t help but feel frustrated.
I am in the same situation. Requested my student developer pack on November 28, still waiting. I asked about it a couple of weeks ago and the reply I got was something like “We didn’t put enough resources on getting everybody their licenses quickly, and now we have a big pile of pending requests. Please be patient”. It isn’t something Epic can do anything about though. It is on Github’s roof, the ball.
Requested it as soon as it released, got mine in around one week - now I guess it’ll be delayed because the high demand and the manual review process, since isn’t a profitable thing - they can’t set a lot of guys to do that, of course.
It also depends with which e-mail you signed up with. Make sure to use the e-mail address you got from your university. You can also ask your professors if they could contact github for it.
Because I tried it like 1.5 months after UE was added to the student pack and got an email back the same day. Everyone from my university had around the same response time so I assume github just checked for the domain and automatically accepted it.
You have submitted 1 request:
Dec 16, 2014 for @charyou – Pending
Am still waiting, not as long as others, but long enough. Signed up with my student-mail, non-edu, regular de-domain.
Just wondering how long it’s going to take, in 3 weeks my exams are over, would love to play around with UE4 again.
Dec 13, 2014 for @*** – Pending
Used my school email. I send email @github asking how long it takes nowaday because few friends of mine got it in days
reply:
“Hi,
Right now we’re a bit backed up with Student Developer Pack requests so it may take some time before yours can be seen to. Have patience and we’ll get to yours as soon as we can.
Cheers,
Scott”
Still waiting Don’t wanna buy ue4 yet because iam not so sure if it will run on my laptop
