Which versions of Unreal Engine are the most popular today?

I create assets packages for Fab (formerly the Marketplace) and I generally tryo to target the earliest engine version that I can, depending on the type of asset. Often that is version 4.15.

I wonder how many potential customers might look at my assets and assume they are as old as 4.15 (when I created most during the 5.3 timeframe.

Does Epic provide any guidance on the current usage rates of their various engine versions? If 4.15 is very rarely used and most users have moved onto 5.X, that would be good to know! Is this information publicly available? Thanks in advance!

I assume Epic doesn’t give an overview of engine download profile, but I would hazard a guess at

4.27 because a lot of people don’t want the extra load of 5
5.4 because it’s the latest version
5.3 because some haven’t bothered to upgrade yet

Thanks. My assumptions are pretty close to yours. Epic should provide some guidance for their creators though. When I was creating mobile Android Apps, Android updated their info on the most commonly used version of Android in the field (about once a year) so we devs could make informed decisions about which versions we would target to maximize our market appeal.

I would love to see Epic/Unreal Engine follow this lead.
