Which laptop is best for the Unreal engine 5 latest version ?

I have research about Asus strix g18 series g 16 seriees, dell alienware m18 and i don’t know about the other options , but the systems specs are
CPU:i9 , 14 gen.
GPU: 4070 nvidia 8 gb
SSD: 1Tb (upgrade it later )
RAM:32 gb

what will be the best laptops to buy because i am a student and starting to learn the unreal engine 5 .

let’s discuss the best laptops available in the market.

Hey there @DivySoni197! Welcome back to the community! Those specs are great for the engine, however you’ll still need to be wary of thermal throttling, as it a common complaint with even high end laptops running Unreal. If there are 40 series variants with 12gb VRAM for laptops I would also recommend it, as if you do anything rendering intensive, you may want a bit more overhead.

yes the graphics series 4080 and 4090 gives the 12gb VRAM in the laptop but the prices are over the budget . what if i get the laptop with at least 40 series graphics and at least 8gb Vram. i am confuse because there are lots of brands available at the the same price range . which one is like more suitable ? because there are brands like ASUS strix series , dell alienware series , lenovo legion series , msi seires and what not . i am getting confuse to pick one becuase all have pros and cons.

what is your suggestion ? when you are buying new laptop for mostly the unreal engine 5 and play some games .

The answer is… How much would you like to pay sir? … Seriously, you’re a student just starting out. Unless you’re loaded, don’t spend anything more on a laptop today than you actually need to (bad value and yes lots of devs use them). But look for the cheapest entry level laptop you can find for now. Until you actually learn UE. In the event you get good, then buy something decent as prices improve.

Ignore the following advice if you like, but consider yourself warned. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Never ever use a good game dev laptop for gaming. As it can shorten the life to a third or even less (think a year or sometimes even 6 months)! Instead buy a console for gaming. As for the other stuff… Search out forum accounts of Asus motherboards & laptops… Asus are frequently a nightmare… That’s why they’re cheap… :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I can’t give specific recommendations as that could be recognized as an endorsement, but if going any higher on the budget is too much, the suggested specs you mentioned are just fine and would be comparable to a solid desktop (before thermal throttling).

Great and thanks for the advice, i’ll take it seriously. I have used unreal engine 5 and made some basic games but now i want to upgrade to much better laptop of 40 series and i am confused as usual . i am planning for the i9 processor from intel , but i am confused in the graphics series because , i need the cores and threads for the performance because i am learning AI too , so for the unreal engine i was going high but as you suggest i will come for the entry level thinking of 4060 gpu , so i can use and learn unreal engine for the developer perspective . it was a nice hit to my thoughts of rather spending loads into laptop rather than on learning . So it can be much more pocket friendly and for the gaming  i can buy console and extra monitor to play, , for the video games . so i can setup all the things rather overspending .
