which is the best way to control an excavator arm, with physics, to give a simulator feeling

hi guys
i’ve been experimenting on ways to get a realistic effect on an excavator arm movement, its static mesh no bones or animation, simply want to use physics for realism…

i’ve tried relative rotation, but it doesnt work well, it keeps falling due to gravity and just not a realistic effect, i’ve also tried add torque, this also does not give a realistic effect, maybe angular orientation target?

im no expert im just experimenting with ways to get a realistic movement from inputs to an excavator arm,

any help would be really apreciated.

Look into the new experimental plugin - Physics Control. It’s somewhat of a beast to wrap one’s head around but there’s no looking back. The emphasis is on experimenting since examples are scarce. Mandatory watch:

Not excavator related but gives you an idea of what to expect.
