Where to start with blueprints

Hello, my name is michael, i would like to start off by saying that i have a very hard time learning new things and at this point have watched the blueprint communications video with zach parrish about 52 times as well as writing down notes twice. However despite this i still struggle to know what im doing, sure i can mimic what is being done but i dont understand what im doing or why. So my question is simple, where do i go to understand more about blueprints such as vectors, variables, booleans, and all that other stuff. Essentially if starting from scratch with nothing, how would i use blueprints to make my character move or jump or look around. Where do i learn which ones to use? Is there even a place for that?
For anyone that can provide an answer you have my sincere gratitude and appreciation.

In my experience Tutorials are a great way to get an overall understanding of what exists and what you can do, so i would watch basic tutorials and write notes about what they are going through and what the nodes and components do, for example if they are setting up a Third Person Character. If you are unsure for example what an importnat component is, pause the video and look that up and take a few notes to get a overall understanding of that so in the future when you need to solve a problem you have that knowledge in the back of your head or at least written down.

Tutorials however not that good at actually making you learn how to think if you are just mimicking what they are doing, unless you have your own project and have to take what they’re doing and adjust it yourself to make it work for what you are doing. That way you get to think more for your self and get a better understanding imo.

The thing is i don’t know if there is a clear straight answer to this, i’ve felt that i’ve just learned it step by step with experience, just doing projects and game jams where you need to solve problems, by searching and solving them you start to recognize how things work and get a better understanding of it slowly but surely.

Pluralsight has a good Introduction to UE4 video before, there are surely a bunch of introduction to this and that that can help you get a better overall understanding, but don’t just watch videos, plan and make something of your own, which will give you problems that need to be solved and thus direction to how to look up those problems, by solving them you will learn.

Hope it helps

It is very helpful, thank you for your time and advise.

Don’t forget to mark the answer as correct if you found it satisfactory
