Where is static mesh mode?

Looked all over but couldn’t find any info, docs, or questions on the site about this.

I was wondering, where is static mesh mode?

This was a really useful tool in UE3 and seems to be missing in UE4, unless I’m missing something.

I’m referring to this: UDK | StaticMeshMode

Is it hidden somewhere, or making a return? If this isn’t in UE4, then I would consider this to be a step backwards. Thanks for any info.

Hi Leonard,

What is being shown in that link appears to be a function like our improved Foliage. It will give you control of the placement of groups of meshes. You can control randomized scale, rotation, density, height and more.

You can find more about it here:

https://rocket.unrealengine.com/docs/ue4/INT/Editor/Tools/Foliage/index.html

The documentation is showing an incorrect image for what the icon looks like and where it is located. Here is an updated image:

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thank you,

Alexander

Ok, yeah I have been working with the foliage tool, but didn’t realize you guys we’re pretty much using this tool to replace static mesh mode. Thanks for the info, I’ll force myself to use foliage tool to do what I need- thanks!
