Hi!
I’m learning Unreal and I’ve realised that it is huge. There are many things to learn, but my problem is that I don’t know what those things are.
I’ve never developed a game and everything is new for me. There are terms or concepts that I don’t even know they exist. So, I’ve thought about the questions the interviewers do, and maybe it is a good point to start.
Where can I learn that?
Thank you.
Hello,
Someone wouldn’t be hiring you to know the entire engine.
Think of it just in terms of what engine systems you’re interested in.
You have a portfolio piece (not necessarily a full game) that’s compelling enough to get you an interview.
(The hiring person thinks, maybe this person has the skills and knowledge to do the thing I want to pay someone for)
They ask you about your portfolio piece, “How did you make it, or how did you make this aspect of it”
The answer comes naturally to you, you’re able to speak intelligibly about the systems used. (Even better, you have a copy of portfolio projects and show them things in-engine?)
So, my thought is that just by using the engine and creating things, you’ll naturally learn terms and concepts. More importantly, you’d put these terms and concepts into practice.
