Where are UE4 crash log files stored?

My complete system was frozen after opening a detail window under
“window/ details/ details 2”.
Nothing was responsible and i had to force a shutdown.
After the restart the freeze was not reproducable for me.

Is there a logfile somewhere with logs for the whole engine?

my specs:
win 8.1 pro 64bit;
Core i7 3610QM;
geforce gtx660m;
8gb ram

Hey!

I suppose you can find them over here!

c:\Program Files\Unreal Engine\4.0\Engine\Programs\CrashReportClient\Saved\

Thanks for your answer!
It seems there was no report written, because there is no directory “CrashReportClient” i my installation folder. But in the future i will watch this path!

Here you can find the paths to your logs:

Many of those listed do not appear for me. %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\ does not contain WER\; and Engine\ does not contain Saved\. Is that page outdated?

empty folder after many crashes

UE5, same, constant UE locking up, no crash log or folder in that location ( or near it ). is there any newer information? I have installed different UE versions, updated drivers… no luck.

Update :- disabling auto-save and setting DirectX to DX11 in UE settings seems to have done the trick :slight_smile:

did you have errors with vram, i had it but downgrading to dx11 like you suggested worked for me!

if you are using the Crash Reporter, here is its path.
..\AppData\Local\CrashReportClient\Saved\Logs

The way I found it could be interesting to anyone wondering… I downloaded “Everything” by voidtools, a super fast search tool for Windows. Then, I searched for “log” and sorted by date modified. Finally, ran and crashed the build.
