When will Mac users receive guidance on future Twinmotion updates? System requirements are stuck in yesteryear.
We're not getting Path Tracing so it seems to me that there should be at base minimum, support for Ventura; which to my understanding, would allow Mac users to use Lumen. Ventura has been out for ages at this point. Time to clear the air.
As of Twinmotion 2023.1.2, macOS Ventura should be supported. I see that the documentation might be outdated and still referencing the original 2023.1 release, so I'll see if we can get that updated. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
With that, you should be able to start using Lumen in the 2023.2 PR1 release with virtually no set up, assuming your OS is up-to-date.
Graphics Processing Unit: Requires a discrete GPU, as opposed to an integrated CPU/GPU.
I am working in Monterey with No Lumen option - Selection greyed out .
Regarding "Discrete GPU and integrated CPU/GPU . How is this definition considered when using MAC M1 / M2 hardware with " Unified Memory " . Even 192 GB " Unified memory" on a MAC M2 Studio could be considered " Integrated" and therefore not meeting Lumen use requirements ?
If you could submit a bug report to https://twinmotionhelp.epicgames.com/s/case-community-page and attach a copy of your Twinmotion.log files (Where to find Twinmotion .log file) we can take a look and see what might be preventing Lumen from appearing as an option. If there's any particular steps that might have been missed in the documentation for activating Lumen, we can also make sure that gets added.
A 'Discrete GPU' refers to any dedicated graphics unit, internal or external, compared to an 'Integrated CPU/GPU' which is a CPU with an integrated graphics processor for handling graphics operations. An example of an integrated unit would be Intel HD Graphics, which runs the graphics off of the CPU, compared to a dedicated AMD or NVIDIA graphics card.
Those terms are only relevant in the context of Intel-based Macs. Apple Silicon computers (M-series) function differently. While technically using integrated graphics, the M chips have significantly better graphics capabilities than typical integrated graphics. These computers should all function with Lumen without the need of any external GPUs.
