I’m studying level optimization while taking a course on Unreal Engine performance optimization.
There is a scene where we go from a forest to a city through a tunnel. Should I use HLOD for both the forest and the city, or should I use both HLOD and HISM?
Hey there @swkim_tmoim! Generally, you would use both for both assuming you will be able to see each from a distance. If you can see the Forest from the city or vice versa, or if you can see like 300m+ in either place. HISMs are great for making everything performant and matters more up close, HLOD’s will help more when viewing from a distance. Using both is important when it comes to scenes you can travel to from a distance and get close up. HISMs are especially important for foliage and repeated props.
