When importing I get this “fbx is not referenced by any hierarchy node“

I am using Maya 2023 Unreal 5.0.3 LiveLink plugin 2.1

I get this error when importing my animated character into Unreal “Mesh[Geometry have no name] in the fbx is not referenced by any hierarchy node.”
Is there something I need to do in Maya during my send to Unreal export to fix this?
I can share my Maya rig with you if it helps to solve this issue, please let me know.

Hi I’ve been facing the same issue, did you ever find a solution? I’ve been stuck with this for a week but I could help you figure it out if you’re still working on it

Hi, I’m having the exact same problem.
I had in Maya a rig made on a reference, but then I imported the reference and deleted it from the reference editor.
I tried two different things:
-I imported in unreal 5.4 the fbx in T pose and then the fbx with just the bones animated and baked
-I imported directly the mesh and skeletal mesh already with the animation on

in both cases I get so many lines of the same error “Mesh [Geometry have no name] in the fbx file is not reference by any hierarchy node”. And the rig appears in both t pose in the middle of the world and in pose on the first frame but it’s still, not moving

did you find a solution?

Please, if you can help i am stuggling with the same problem too.

I use 3ds Max.

I’ve run into this problem when the exporter is not set to selected and I have not selected all of the elements that make up the character that I want to export.
