When I import the fbx file, it creates a bunch of little parts, instead of one car.
I am new to all of this and just started today.

It looks like you didn’t link all of those parts to the root(body part) of your model before you exported. Which modeling software are you using, btw?
I am using blender, but also just trying to download fbx files from http://tf3dm.com/3d-models/vehicles
For further information on blender/car rigging, check out this thread
and if it doesnt answer your question start a new thread in the forums. There are blender users around that don’t check AnswerHub too often.
Make sure all the parts of the car is joined in blender to a parent object or is one piece select everything by hitting (A) ones or twice then hit Ctrl + J will join it as one mesh.

Any answers yet? I’m still stuck.
theres basically two options: you can do like C4chaos answered below and join all the bits in the modeling program. or you could change the import settings, theres a option for combine meshes. if you check combine meshes it will import all the bits as one mesh (or at least it should).
Thank you so much!
