Wheel collision boxes are improperly positioned in respect to wheel bones.
Lost a ton of time troubleshooting this one.
Repro:
- Set up a simple car rig with a bone at each wheel
- Map the wheel data asset to each bone in a vehicle pawn
- Wheel colliders are positioned improperly at the Skeletal mesh’s origin and not at the bones.
More info:
The bones are properly positioned, I’ve confirmed this in the skeletal mesh.
PHAT sees the bones in the correct position and places it’s collider components correctly.
The wheel data asset is the only par that doesn’t seem to play nice.
Hello ,
Could you provide some screenshots of what you mean by “improperly positioned”? A useful command to use is “pxvis collision”. When used in the console, it’ll let you visualize the collisions at runtime. A pictures from the side of the vehicle would be helpful. You’ll see all the PHAT collisions as purple wireframe and the actual wheel collisions from the vehicle will show up as black wireframe.
I’ve had some history messing with another user about a similar problem before but it ended up being an asset creation / PHAT setup problem.
We haven’t heard from you in a while, . Are you still experiencing these issues? If so, have you had time to take the screenshots I mentioned in my previous post? In the meantime, I’ll be marking this issue as resolved for tracking purposes. Whenever you’re available, please leave a comment and the post will reopen.
