What's the difference between Master Server and Dedicated Server?

Hey I am confused, I don’t see the difference between a master server and a dedicated server. What about steam OnlineSubSystem, is it a dedicated server?

The Steam master server is a server that lets you find dedicated servers. It is not a game server itself.

A dedicated server is a game server that hosts your game. It registers itself with the master server so that players can find your server.

So the dedicated server is connected to the master server and send to it all the active game sessions(servers).
