UE5 actually looks like a game engine even my dumb brain might be able to get into but I’m trying to figure out the best place to start with the tutorials, I’m just unsure of the differences between those three things. They kind of all just seem like tutorials to me but there’s gotta be some sort of difference.
Tutorial - An individual lesson pretty much. Covering a specific thing.
Course - Multiple tutorials that cover a specific topic in the engine.
Learning Path - Multiple courses to get you to a particular skill.
As an example. Let’s say you want to do level design. A tutorial would be like, “What is a landscape”. A course would be multiple tutorials that end up with you creating a full landscape, like, “Creating a full level with landscapes”. That would contain multiple tutorials. Then a learning path would be covering things like the Level blockout course, the course we just mentioned, and w/e else.
At least - this is how I’ve looked at them.
My understanding is that tutorials are specific individual guides on a specific subject (i.e how to modify a blueprint). A course is a guided collection of lessons (individual tutorials, if you will) towards a broader subject (i.e illumination course with lessons for different lighting types and techniques). A learning path is simply a collection of courses towards a more broad objective, like an environment creation learning path with courses on terrain creation, lighting, level design etc… like a mini degree
Thanks but Epic took so long to approve this post that I already figured it out. I’m currently working through the “Welcome to Game Development” learning path, as I have zero game development experience.
