What's on your desk?

@ClockworkOcean Why not. Not really a complaint, it’s just curious to see that after 10+ years, millions of users, one would expect the Off-topic to be buzzin’… it never did. I guess there are too many avenues for that kind of stuff out there.

…cont.

I’d often leave things for while, days, only to come back to them and actively try to avoid that one approach I took last time. Even if it’s just for reassurance, to circle back to the tried and tested method. But yeah, tunnel vision is a menace.

So what’s one recommendation, as by the book, for those who get their thinking part stuck in a box?

On off-topic:

My missus is obsessed with flickering lights of all kinds. My daily routine includes taking discharged batteries from one box → place in charger → monitor blinking indicators → populate charged batteries box.

Over the years I have developed strong opinions on all kind of batteries ranging from buttons to massive car batteries my dad keeps wet in his boat :ocean:

IKEA’s rechargeable AA(A) Ladda batteries are the $hit! (not pictured here since they’re highly sought after in this household).

We have a similar affliction here. Although luckily, she does the recharging

As far as good ideas go, I find that there is hardly ever a eureka moment. You have to work with many ideas that don’t quite hit the target, over a long period of time ( weeks - months ). Because your brain needs to age and revisit the whole thing at a later date. Then you get the best answer.

I’ve been tinkering with how to relate certain colors to the player without it being at all obvious. But once they see it, they should wonder how they missed it.

Along the way:

  1. Flowers in pots. Meh

  2. Crystals, very meh

  3. Looking out of a window ( the sky, a cloud, some grass, etc ). Slightly better, but I already have another area where they look out of the window, so, meh…

  4. Ad infinitum

Finally settled on a natural looking library scene with, carefully placed:

A book, a butterfly in a case, a plant in a pot, an ‘artifact’. Each one of them can be any color without attracting interest.

Job nearly done…
