What version of Unreal Engine worth using for an open world game?

Hi everyone, I am the founder and current CEO of JackriderProductions and we have been struggling to find a reliable game engine to use whilst our own engine is being built.

We had used Unreal Engine 3 and 4 but then we had branched off to other engine for different genres of games.

Is using Unreal Engine worth it? If so, which version?
We want something that doesn’t have many if not any bugs but with updated features for an open world survival game. We had already done some research but we wanted to come to the community and ask what they think.

That only leaves UE5 as the answer… :person_shrugging:

The latest / most recent version will usually have the fewest old bugs (but regression :poop: happens) with a sprinkle of brand new issues on top.

This is a strange question coming from someone who is building their own engine.

We were suppose to have a game out by December but their were some issues that made us cancel the release altogether. We have the people who specialize in C++ building our engine UPROAR Engine and we want want the developers who specialize in game development to work on a game.

All of them have worked with multiple engines such as Unreal Engine, CryEngine and Unity but we don’t know what to choose for a specific genre.

Open world, FPS and maybe survival.

We 100% want an open world but we aren’t too sure if their is a better engine out their that does open world better than Unreal Engine 5.
