What the Food Thoughts on a Platform Driven Approach to Food & Data Experiences

Hi everyone,

I recently came across a platform called What the Food, and instead of focusing on it as a product, I found the platform concept itself quite interesting from a technology and experience-design perspective. The platform seems to revolve around organizing, presenting, and contextualizing food-related information in a more interactive and user-centric way.

From a game development or real-time visualization standpoint, platforms like this raise some interesting questions. How can structured data, visual storytelling, and user interaction be combined to create engaging experiences? With Unreal Engine often being used beyond games — such as simulations, education, and interactive media — there’s potential inspiration here for building data-driven environments or experiential applications.

I’m curious how others view platforms like What the Food when thinking about real-time engines. Do you see value in using Unreal for interactive platforms outside traditional gaming, especially ones centered around data, lifestyle, or education?

Looking forward to hearing your perspectives.
