What Settings>Location is for?

Hello everyone

I'm trying to understand what benefits or which cases I should use Settings>Location feature.

I understand that if I use Context>Urban feature where I can quick way to do real life environments (3D models) from OpenStreetMap....But I don't see any information or documentations what or which kind of project I should use Settings>Location feature.

Hello ,

Thank you for posting your question in the community. Currently the Location menu sets the correct sun location/angle and this setting is not tied to the urban context feature.

The location is important to setup for every image/media if you want accurate shadows for specific world location and seasons, setting up the Month and North will be important (Note it is based on the 20th of the month). The sun rise and sun set times will be adjusted accordingly when selecting the right month based on the location picked (Longitude and Latitude).

Hope this makes sense and if you have any follow-up questions please let us know.

Kind regards,

Vincent B.

Please can you provide some troubleshooting tips to make the setting> location stick? The search magnifying glass doesn't work. I can scroll to the location but there is no Grab like there is for Context> Urban. Both context>Urban and Settings>Location keep reverting to Paris. On TM 23.1 Macbook Pro Apple M1 Max, MacOS 12.0.1

Thanks Vincent. Good to know your working on it. Curiously It is intermittent. Sometimes its a problem. Come back the next day and it works....

Thank you for your answer 👍

Hello ,

Thank you for posting in the community and we are working on fixing the location issue where the map doesn't move. However the sun angle/position does get adjusted when entering a new address location. This allows correct sun shadows even though the map location does not seem to change.

Kind regards,
