I have a very simple question with an answer that I have not been able to find yet. Let’s say you use Gaia or a different pipe mapping program, and you want to add a new height map to extend your current world. Like, if you’re making a 3D RPG game right? And you already have a huge amount of space in your world and you want to just add more space after that. Like you want to add a big mountain range. How do you do that in the same landscape so it world partitions?
I’ve tried it several ways and none of them have worked. I added to the current world partition by just adding new sections, and then imported that as a height map and I tried each of the options, extend, subdivision, etc original. This didn’t seem to work and squished my height map down, so it wasn’t a height map it was a flat map. If I imported it as a brand new landscape though, the dimensions of the height map were correct and it had plenty of high altitude spots
So I’m looking for an answer as to how this is intended to be done in unreal. When you need to extend your map and your world, how do you do that?
