Hi ! I’m new here, I started Unreal Engine few weeks ago. Now I am able to create beautiful little maps with nice grass, trees, shiny sun etc, but unable to create a full map because of my hardware.
I have a very good processor (i think) (i7 4790k), but “only” 8 Go of RAM and a 750 Ti … So I’d need to do some view distance limits, but that’s not the topic. I consider buying some upgrades for my pc … What first should I update ? My RAM or my graphic card ? I can’t buy these two things now … I would like to work on a big “free” landscape, as made in the boy and his kite demo, but it isn’t feasible with my actual setup. And, what GPU do you recommand me around 250 - 400 € for unreal engine ? Thanks
For that cost you could get a GTX 1060 graphics card and more RAM
Thanks for your reply, and with a gtx 1060 would I be able to work on a giant project like the “boy and his kite” demo ? I know it’s far from my level but this is what I aim x)
The biggest issue with that project is that it requires 24GB of RAM to open, but I think for 400 euros you can probably get a GTX 1060 and upgrade to 32GB of RAM, you’ll have to see what’s available for you to purchase. The GTX 1060 would be a big step up from your current GPU and is pretty close to the card they used to render the Kite demo.
Okay thanks !
A last question : once the Kite demo has been compiled, what would be the min specs to run it correctly ? Just to have an idea of the difference between the Debug and “released” project
I would say maybe a GTX 960, I’m not sure that they did enough testing to see what hardware it would run on
Okay, thank you a lot
