What mesh to bind when rigging?

Hello, I have a newb question.

I have a character model ready to rig. With the new cloth tools in 4.16, I’m wondering how i should rig my character, which has other objects attached.

The model has its hair & cape as separate objects. When I rig the character, should i bind the hair & cape to skeleton as well?

Or, can i simply bind the body, animate it, and import the hair & cape as individual models, then use the socket system to attach them, and then finally paint the vertex values to give cloth physics?
