I was just checking my PC and I found that the launcher has a folder called VaultCache and it is taking up 13 gigs I tried looking up what it is, but I couldn’t find relative information.
can someone help tell me if it is safe to delete or if it’s needed as I’m not sure?
Like it does say the same thing here but it doesn’t give the option to delete so would it save to through the folder as I’m guessing these are tied to my account also.
Hi greenday21,
The Vault in the launcher displays all of the marketplace/learn items which you have purchased (this includes free items you have chosen). To use these items you must first download a copy of the data to install from. Once downloaded this data goes into the Vault Cache folder you have noted. We then install from this data to the area you specified when choosing to create a project or add to project etc. The original downloaded data remains to enable you to install the same data again without having to re-download it all.
You can tell which items you have cached by looking at the text under each vault items main button. If it is cached you will see Cache Size: [size of the data]. You can remove the data which you don’t intend to re-use by using the remove option in the drop down next to each vault item.
There is no benefit to keeping it on your machine if you have no intention of using it again in the near future. However you will have to re-download it if you wish to use it again.
As of UE4.19 (or earlier?) there is a setting in Epic Games Launcher so that you can relocate the Vault cache. Thanks EPIC!
Just happens whilst searching this and deleting my files from my cache to get some space, that now I have lost all my assets from the project I am currently working on.
Any help on this?
