Out of the wall of text this part seems important

  • Does BP_Rifle contain the variable FirstPersonMesh?

  • Go into BP_FirstPersonCharacter_C and check if you need to press compile (if it has changed)

Probably the mesh-component in BP_FirstPersonCharacter has been renamed, so BP_Rifle can’t find it.
Just open BP_Rifle, and reconnect the mesh-reference to make compile
(or compile BP_FirstPersonCharacter if you haven’t already done that)

Another issue could be that “FirstPersonMesh” is an editor-only variable, making it compile in editor, but not in build (but don’t think that’s possible in blueprint).
