What is the process and timing for the crossplay independent review?

The Epic crossplay requirements specify that the game must pass ‘independent testing’ and build must be submitted for review at least 4 weeks before launch, along with additional materials to perform crossplay testing.

What I’m unsure about is:

  1. Where/how is this review initiated?

  2. What are the expected timings of this? Is it only to check the form of the crossplay implementation, i.e. can we submit for this while we still fix bugs? Or is it a review of THE build that is intended to go live?

  3. If it’s not THE build then what sandbox / stage should it be built for?

  4. Any other information on how this works? I can’t find anything that mentions it other than the two brief warnings on this page:

Thanks,

Rob

Hey there Rob,

Happy to answer your questions here.

  1. Your review is initiated within DevPortal when you push to the next sandbox.

  2. When these checks go through we check the build for all Epic Games Store requirements. For more information on the requirements you can check out our documentation here: https://dev.epicgames.com/docs/epic-games-store/requirements-guidelines

  3. Crossplay will be checked at all stages but will only prevent from going to the live sandbox.

  4. Moderation team will leave any comments and call outs in their response to let you know any further requirements or recommendations.
