It’s not clean to me what the 25% maintenance fee means, and I can’t find an explanation of what it does means.
Hello Bill,
in perpetual licenses (RealityCapture PGM and RealityCapture) the first year of updates and prior technical support is included in the price. The price for the next year of updates and technical support is 25% of the full price of license.
Hi Zuzana,
Thanks for the clarification.
Bill
hello,
is it possible to skip some years of maintenance?
or do we have to pay the maintenance fee every year to get updates?
regards
frank
Good afternoon Frank,
The user shall decide whether to go for Maintenance program, or not, when purchasing the perpetual license, or latest within the 1st year after purchase ( free from fee in that period). If the maintenance is nor purchased, the user will not be eligible for upgrades, updates, computer swaps and technical support. The RC license will however function perpetually in version and with feature set as purchased.
I hope this has answered your inquiry fully.
best regards.
hello martina,
thank you for the fast reply!
Let`s say we pause 2 years (no yearly maintance), then we have to buy the product again to obtain an update
or do we have to pay for the 2 skipped years?
regards
frank
Hello Frank,
If you would not purchase the maintenance package, you would have to purchase new products to gain licenses with updates ( inc. new features) after the pause.
best regards.
ok - thank you!
Wow that’s heavy news - after purchase, to get updates, have to pay maintenence each and every year; miss a year and have to purchase in full all over again.
Along with “the new pricing models were not released yet”, makes me nervous if the splendid E99 90days deal doesn’t continue.
Chicken and egg - can’t possibly pay big purchase plus maintenance forever until up and running and earning regularly; can’t get up and running without the lo-cost E99 deal.
Good afternoon Tom,
maintenance package is an optional product. The License user will purchase will be perfectly functional and perpetually available to the user even without the package. It is a standard model for software products.
The other part of your comment, CR does and will offer in the future the licensing options for professionals (perpetual, CLI, PGM) , as well as, licensing option for lower price with certain limitation/either on quantity of inputs or time-limited (RC Promo or other alternatives in the future).
Thank you for the second para - good news. I hope, though, that the exceptional good value for money continues, for the reasons in last para below.
The first is still worrying, even if it is “a standard model for software products”.
Would it be such a cost to CR, to allow some perpetual license owners to choose to stop paying maintenance for a year, if business is slow - and then resume and get full update when business picks up again? Even a whole year at a time is quite a big commitment, to trust that business will keep going for that long.
This is obviously an issue for the small or solo user/practitioner; less for a bigger corporate. CR’s E99 deal is very enlightened in this respect, far better than “standard model for software products” - we thank you for that.
Why not further support the small user, who’s moving into needing the full unlimited product, with a more liberal, flexible deal on maintenance?
I’m sure CR is aware of how exceptionally cost-attractive RC is to the small user (in addition to its unique technical advantages), and realises what a growing loyal user-base is being created by the E99 deal - and more.
Thank you for your feedback Tom.
We are and will keep doing our best to satisfy our user’s needs, so I’m sure we will pleasantly surprise you with some more news in terms of products, as well as features very soon.
I like that talk
