I have one big issue.
If I press “Simulate” - I get about 25 FPS at the moment.
If I press “Play” - I get only 10 FPS.
What can be the reason?
I already have removed everything interactive, the only thing I left is the character and it is a standart blueprint. (and the static envirenment)
Do you have any ideas where to look for the mistake?
And yeah, before it worked fine and at some point it started to give only 10 FPS, and I didn’t notice what I’ve done.
Another interesting observation is that if I run the game in PIE, the same screen as the editor’s screen it runs 9-10 FPS and if I make it 2x-3x smaller it runs exactly 25 FPS, maybe there is a conection between these facts?
At least, how to debug? I already have removed all blueprints - hasn’t helped. Tomorrow I am going to try to migrate it to a brand new project, maybe it will help…
So, I have migrated it, and it helped, it has added about 6-10 additional FPS, but why can it be? The settings are probably the same.
However, in the “Simulate” now it is about 34 FPS, in the “Play” about 18 FPS. There is no any blueprints in the level, no any VFX. No any logic at all. Why can it be?
Is there anyone who can help understand why it happen:
So stats of Flying in Editor vs Gaming in PIE:
Lumen Reflection: 2ms vs 7.6ms
Lumen Screen Probe Gather: 1.8ms vs 4.4ms
Megalights: 2ms vs 5.1ms
PostProcessing: 3.7ms vs 5.1ms
PrePass: 1ms vs 1.1ms
The graphic is exactly the same, the resolution is exactly the same, No any VFX, a simple character blueprint, no any blueprints on the map, no any animated textures. But FPS is 2x different.
How to achive the same in PIE?
So, for anybody who is interested…
You just need to set Scalibility Settings for the game. There is no any settings of them for the game in PIE… only for the editor.
So to change them you need to enter in the command Line these:
For some reason when I switched in Setting → Engine Scalibility Setting, it also saved them permanently into the .ini I guess… Don’t know why it works like that. And since them nomatter what I switched it always was Epic.
An important thing, that it looks like in UE5.5. when you turn on MegaLights, it already doesn’t matter, Epic Or High your settings, it gives the same FPS.
And also probably you should turn off PathTracing and keep only RayTracing if you have any problems with optimization. You can do it in Rendering section in Preferences.
