What are these things with arrows?

I opened up the Big Office that is free this month, and they have all these things with arrows. What are they and how do I get rid of them or hide them if they are needed for something.,

Thank you

Hi there,
It is a decal actor, used to create visual effects on flat surfaces, such as scratches, stain, grime, etc. The purple arrow points towards the surface that is projecting the decal.
If you click on one of those, go to details panel and read what it is.

Thank you. I figured out the decals. how do I turn the arrows off for the lights?

No problem. Not sure if I understood correctly, but you have three options:

  1. Click on show, then uncheck decals
  2. On details panel, check actor hidden in game for playtest or uncheck visibility to hide while in editor.
  3. Adjust the Editor Billboard Scale.

Hey @ImDataJuggler!

It’s a little hard to see your second arrow, but what you are pointing to is the arrow that indicates what direction your light is facing.

If you already have your lights placed the way you want them, I suggest hiding them in the outliner till you need them again, as that will hide that arrow, till you need them again. This will not affect how your lights when playing the level, but they will not show up in the editor viewport till you reactivate them.

I hope the above solution is what you are looking for!

I don’t know what an Outliner is or how to hide them?

Thank you for the reply.

Hey @ImDataJuggler,

The outliner is where all your assets in your scene are. By default it is on the right side of the screen for UE5. You can hide any asset in the outliner by selecting the eye on any highlighted asset.

I hope this helps point you where you need to be!
